Nilai Ujian tengah semester (UTS) merupakan salah satu nilai pembagi pada penentuan nilai rapor siswa. Perlunya banyak belajar dan melakukan banyak latihan soal sebelum pelaksanaan ujian tengah semester (UTS) supaya hasil atau nilai memenuhi atau mencapai KKM. Salah satu mata pelajaran yang tergolong sulit dipelajari oleh siswa adalah mata pelajaran bahasa inggris karena siswa harus melakukan dua tahap penyelesaian soal, sebelum menjawab pertanyaan soal siswa terlebih dahulu harus paham dan mengartikan soal atau pertanyaan ke bahasa indonesia setelah itu barulah mencari jawaban yang benar.

Untuk paham mata pelajaran bahasa inggris siswa harus banyak mengerti dan menghapal banyak arti kosa kata bahasa inggris. Oleh karena itu guru harusnya banyak memberikan latihan soal agar siswa terbiasa menjawab dan mengartikan berbagai jenis soal bahasa inggris dalam bahasa indonesia sebelum melaksanakan ulangan aau ujian salah satunya Ujian tengah semester (UTS).
